Day 6: Sightseeing

I går kveld satt jeg på hotellet og leste, og da ringte telefonen. Det var faren min! Han og moren min hadde kommet fram til Oslo om ettermiddagen. De hadde vært på en 12 dagers tur sammen med en gruppe fra Pacific Lutheran University. Faren min fortalte at gruppen deres skulle besøke Vigelandsparken og museene på Bygdøy dagen etter. Derfor bestemte jeg meg at jeg skulle dra til Vigelandsparken og overraske dem.

(Last night, I was sitting and reading at the hotel, and then the telephone rang. It was my dad! He and my mom had arrived in Oslo in the afternoon. The had been on a 12-day tour with a group from Pacific Lutheran University. My dad told me that their group was going to visit Vigeland Park and the museums on Bygdøy the next day. Therefore, I decided that I was going to go to Vigeland Park and surprise them.)

Jeg stod opp tidlig i dag og dro direkte til Vigelandsparken. Det var mange turister i parken, men jeg fant ikke gruppen til foreldrene mine. Jeg trodde at jeg hadde kommet for seint, så jeg bestemte meg for å dra videre til Bygdøy. Der fant jeg ut at det ikke var så lett å finne folk hvis man ikke visste akkurat hvor de var. Jeg var innom Folkemuseet og Vikingskiphuset, men der fant jeg dem ikke. Derfra tok jeg bussen videre til Bydøynes hvor Kontiki-museet, Fram-museet og Sjøfartsmuseet ligger. Det var min siste sjanse. Heldigvis stod de utenfor Kontiki-museet sammen med de andre i gruppen sin. Det var moro å overraske dem og få hilse på de andre menneskene i gruppen deres. Jeg gikk på museet sammen med dem, og etterpå satt vi ute og spiste pølser og drakk kaffe på en utekafé som ligger rett ved fjorden.

(I got up early today and went directly to Vigeland Park. There were many tourists in the park, but I didn't find my parents' group. I thought that I had come too late, so I decided to go on to Bygdøy. There I found out that it wasn't so easy to find people if one didn't know exactly where they were. Jeg stopped by the Folk Museum and the Viking Ship Museum, but I didn't find them. From there, I took the bus further to Bygdøynes where the Kontiki Museum, the Fram Museum, and the Maritime Museum are located. It was my last chance. Fortunately, they stood outside the Kontiki Museum with the others in their group. I went to the museum with them, and afterwards we sat outside and ate hotdogs and drank coffee at an outdoor cafe that is located right next to the fjord.)
